Arapahoe Girl Eludes Possible Kidnapper

Arapahoe Girl Eludes Possible Kidnapper- The Denver Post

This article talks about how a 13-year-old girl was walking to her bus stop in the morning when a male approached her and told her to get into the car with him. She refused to do this and the male stopped the car and grabbed her arm. She managed to escape this man and was able to run home. I think that this story can apply to me in many ways. Even though I do not ride a bus to school, I can relate it to all my friends that I see ridding the bus everyday. I think that this is a big issue and for some reason I think robbers and kidnapers are appearing more and more around suburban areas. I say this because I think that there are not as many cops in the suburbs because they are downtown and in the ghettos of Colorado. What would you do if someone approached you that you did not know and asked you for something or tried to take you with them? I have thought of this question so many times in the past week. I think that I have spent more time thinking about this question than I have about anything in my life. I take this question so serious because just this past week two males approached a woman down the street and they held her at gunpoint and took all her possession that she owned. What if you were in this situation, what would you do? I think that maybe with all these things happening that we should come up with a solution like making more bus stops and making them closers to peoples houses. What do you think we could do about it?

MTV's "Don Vito" collapses after sex-assault conviction

MTV's "Don Vito" collapses after sex-assault conviction- The Denver Post-Ann Schrader
This article hit me when I read the title. This is because right before I went to the computer I was watching a show with Don Vito as one of the main characters. This show was called Viva la Bam. When I came in and saw the article title I was thinking to my self what has Don done again? Then I remember that he was sent to prison on accounts of sexual assault last year when he came to Denver. I did not realize that he was still in prison here in Colorado. This article talks about how Don fell on the floor after he herd what his sentence was. It was three to six years for the two accounts with minimum of ten years in probation. I was thinking to my self and what I was just watching on TV was a sexual assaulter. I thought and said can we really trust anyone on the TV today to act like a good person and to set a good role model? I think that I need to realize that I should not be taking after these actors and how they are acting. They are just showing who they really are and what they really do in life. I believe that this possible could relate to when parents are letting kids watch Don and then when they hear that he has done something bad on the news that they think he is a good role model because he is on the TV and what he does that they can do to others. I think that parents need to be making sure that their kids are not watching impropriate things on the TV.

A-Rod Named Baseball's Most Clutch

A-Rod Named Baseball's Most Clutch- Bryan Hoch- MLB.com

This article is about Alex Rodriguez and how he has been awarded the most clutch person in the MLB. I would think that coming back from a rough first year in New York that it would be hard to do something like this. He put up some amazing numbers this year. He hit 54 home runs and had 156 RBI’s. This stands for runners batted in. This stat is amazing from coming back from a rough year. I think that people had put so much pressure on him his first year because of the contract that the Yankees had given him. I think that by spending a year in New York and getting that entire negative attitude toward him his first year that he has to realize what New York fans where like. I think he changed how he played and got back on track and posted some of the greatest numbers every. I think that if I look up to a pro athlete like this then it can teach me a good lesson to work harder and harder and something good will happen. If I put a negative attitude on my teammates then if one player gets on the others then the team does not have a good attitude and will not perform at there best. I believe that you always need to stay positive when do anything and you will be able to achieve a great goal.

Maine Middle School To Offer Birth Control

Maine Middle School To Offer Birth Control- CNN Education

This article struck out when I saw the title. It is about how schools in Portland, Maine are offering Birth Control pills to those in middle school who are pregnant and do not want to have a baby. They just started to offer these pills at the schools health center. All the kids need to get these pills is, to have there parents get them into the health canter by saying they are sick or some excuse that they make up to there parents. The kids do not have to tell their parents about the birth control pills just need parents to get them into the health center. I think this is a very big issue, kids at the ages of 11-14 having sexual intercourse. What is are world coming to today? Is it that kids are watching movies and TV ads that talk about having sexual interaction and want to try it for them selves? I believe in my religion as a catholic that I should not have premarital sex. I think that when you hear that “5 out of 134 kids have had sexual intercourse” that this is wrong in so many ways. This can go with the law of rape and going against so many beliefs that people have. So lets say for instants that you have 2,110 kids at your school.(I got this number from the Arapahoe website on how many kids we have enrolled.) This would mean out of all those kids in the school that 79 kids would have had sexual interaction. I would believe this is a very large number of students in high school to be having premarital sex. I think that parents need to be talking to their kids about this issue and kids need to be telling their parents if something does happen.

Mom Who Left Baby In Tub Gets 90 Days

Mom who left baby in tub gets 90 days- The Denver Post- Arthur Kane

This is a very interesting article to me because it talks about child abuse. I was always afraid of child abuse when I was a kid. I never knew how much my parents loved me and if they were punishing me, it was for my own good. Because of what they did when I was, young made it easier for me when I grew up to respect my parents and treat them with respect. I think this is a big thing inn our class room today. We have not been showing each other respect, we have not shown Mrs. Comp respect, and we have not respected others in the classroom. I believe that everyone has the chance to say something in the classroom. I also believe that every kid in the room has the right to believe what they want to believe. Therefore, this means not making fun of others when they ask a question, or saying I do not think you because you think this. I think this is a big issue in our classroom and we need to stop it now. If we resolve this problem then I think that our classroom would be a more fun filled environment.

Shhh! I'm Googling My Facts

Shhh! I’m Googling My Facts-Dave Warlick- 2¢’s Worth

This article is very interesting to me. It talks about how Dave’s son is doing some research on Google about the attacks of 9/11. His first place to look for information is Google. It talks about how his kid is in the seventh grade and thinks that everything that is on Google is all right to use for information because it is true information. I think that if kids are always thinking that everything that is on Google is all right. I think that teachers and parents need to tell there kids that not every thing on the internet is true. I believe that if parents tell there kids this before the get into high school it would be easier for them to understand that you need to search and find the right information. Because if you understand that the internet is always right then it will be easier for you to understand that you have to put some work into your research and get a good grade. If you do not put your effort in, then you probably end up with not a very good grade.

CSU Editor Faces peer Review Today

“CSU Editor Faces Peer Review Today”- Mike McPhee- The Denver Post
This article is about J. David McSwane. He is the editor for Colorado State University newspaper. He is the main character in this article, because of his headline he published, “"Taser This, F... Bush.” He wrote this comment as his headline because of what happened to a Florida student. The student got tasered because he spoke out while John Kerry was speaking. He is getting tried for his quote in the newspaper. This stood out to me when I saw it. I thought it was very interesting what he had said. It had not only applied to me by the language he used but to my brother because he goes to CSU. I think now when I see the Arapahoe newspaper that is a student editing this, is it being looked at by the office before it is printed. I think this is a main reason why this quote was so hurtful and rude. Since he is the editor of the newspaper is he the only one who looks at and reads over it, or does the principal of CSU read the newspaper before it is sent out. I hope that this will never happen again because schools should be smarter and not only let the kids be the editor but maybe a administrator should look at it before it gets printed.
