Arapahoe Girl Eludes Possible Kidnapper

Arapahoe Girl Eludes Possible Kidnapper- The Denver Post

This article talks about how a 13-year-old girl was walking to her bus stop in the morning when a male approached her and told her to get into the car with him. She refused to do this and the male stopped the car and grabbed her arm. She managed to escape this man and was able to run home. I think that this story can apply to me in many ways. Even though I do not ride a bus to school, I can relate it to all my friends that I see ridding the bus everyday. I think that this is a big issue and for some reason I think robbers and kidnapers are appearing more and more around suburban areas. I say this because I think that there are not as many cops in the suburbs because they are downtown and in the ghettos of Colorado. What would you do if someone approached you that you did not know and asked you for something or tried to take you with them? I have thought of this question so many times in the past week. I think that I have spent more time thinking about this question than I have about anything in my life. I take this question so serious because just this past week two males approached a woman down the street and they held her at gunpoint and took all her possession that she owned. What if you were in this situation, what would you do? I think that maybe with all these things happening that we should come up with a solution like making more bus stops and making them closers to peoples houses. What do you think we could do about it?

Austin, i don't know if putting the bus stops closer together would help. I think this issue is interesting and hard to prevent. People could walk up to any kid and just kidnap them or stalk them. I think parents just need to either trust their kids in taking the bus, or if their kids are small and defenseless they should drive them to school. Also friends should meet up or walk to the school bus stop with other friends. Numbers sometimes provide safety. Good thought and good post Austn!

I think that it's really creepy. All of that is happenning so close to us. If I was in a situation where someone grabbed my arm and tryed to take me away I would do anything I could to get away. It seems just so scary. What would you do in this situation? Is the lady at the end of your street alright? Have they caught the guys who did it?

Ya i saw this topic on the news and its pretty crazy. i think kids just need to walk in big groups or carpool, then they would have a way to tell an adult. Very good topic and good blog.

Well putting the bus stops closer to peoples houses is not really going to do anything i mean kidnapers can still get you as soon as you walk out the door of your house. But as for the cops being in the ghetto well that is because they are bad people. now for the robbers they rob people in the suburbs more because people in the suburbs have more valuable stuff that they can have so i say that we get rid of all the fancy stuff we hgave in our and just live like we do not have anything and maybe we wont get anything stolone

I dont think the bus stop location matters because kidnappers wont care. i relate to this easily because i think about it a lot when i think what would happen if it happened to me or someone close to me.
